SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego will be one of the hottest housing markets in 2019, real estate website Zillow predicted Monday.

Data analysts looked at places where home values and rents were expected to outpace the rest of the country, income growth, job opportunities, and population growth.

Overall, San Diego ranked 10th among national markets.

1. San Jose
2. Orlando
3. Denver
4. Atlanta
5. Minneapolis-St. Paul
6. San Francisco
7. Dallas-Fort Worth
8. Nashville
9. Jacksonville
10. San Diego

The top San Diego County areas expected to see home values rise were Carlsbad, Chula Vista, and Otay Mesa.

Zillow experts said the forecast change in San Diego area home values was 4.3 percent. Rents were expected to rise 8.6 percent.

There was a wide range of prices from the top market, San Jose, and Southern cities. Home values in Jacksonville tree one-sixth what they are in San Jose, and rents are one-third the price.

“Affordability is attractive - for both young professionals and booming businesses, earning markets like Orlando, Minneapolis, Dallas and Nashville top billing in 2019,” said Zillow senior economist Aaron Terrazas.
