SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 98-year-old woman facing eviction from her Ocean Beach home is in court Monday to fight for her right to stay.

Betty Morse has been living in her home since the late 1980s, and during her 30 years at the property, she never had a problem with the rental.

Now, Morse’s landlord wants to renovate the home and rent it out at market price -- a price Morse said she is willing to pay.

Morse had been using Section 8 housing assistance to pay her rent, but 10News learned the property owner is choosing to opt out of the program.

Morse’s 90-day eviction notice expired and she remains on the property, prompting the owner to file an eviction lawsuit.
