SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A heartbroken dog owner is sharing her story after learning her lost therapy dog was put down hours after arriving at a local shelter.
Gizmo, a 16-year-old Shih Tzu, got out of his home in Clairemont Saturday morning right after his collar was taken off for a bath.
A frantic search in the neighborhood and a social media campaign turned up nothing.
His owner Lauren Hicks eventually found out County Animal Services had collected him that day and put him down about 6 hours later.
