SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two women were rescued from a La Jolla canyon Saturday as rains soaked San Diego.
According to San Diego Fire-Rescue, the incident happened around 3 p.m. Saturday in the Box Canyon area of La Jolla.
It’s unclear what the women were doing in the canyon, but crews say one of the women tried to leave the canyon on her own before slipping and falling into a river.
The flow carried the woman about 30 feet before taking her down a waterfall and onto the beach.
The woman wasn’t seriously hurt and didn’t need to be taken to the hospital.
“Unfortunately, the SDFD helicopter couldn’t be used on this rescue because of bad weather conditions,” a post on the department’s Facebook read.
The victims were carried to the top of the canyon using a rope system, crews said.
