NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A National City road was drenched Sunday morning after police say a woman slammed into a fire hydrant, sending water spewing into the air.

The crash happened on the 200 block of Palm Avenue around 3 a.m.

According to police, the woman lost control of her car and crashed into the hydrant.

She was later taken away in handcuffs, but it’s unclear at this time if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
