SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police have identified the victim and suspect involved in a deadly downtown stabbing on July 1.
According to police, 43-year-old Canthon E. Tripplett was stabbed on the 400 block of Fifth Avenue around 2:30 a.m.
When they arrived, officers found a companion of the man providing first aid. The man was taken to the hospital where he later died, police say.

After investigating the stabbing, police learned that Tripplett was injured during a fight with two men on the sidewalk.
A man matching the description, David Zertuche, 30, was arrested for murder and has been booked into jail for the homicide.
