SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Registrar of Voters building was evacuated and some surrounding streets were closed Monday afternoon due to a reported suspicious suitcase on the premises, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Police told ABC 10News that the suitcase was first spotted at the ROV (5600 Overland Ave.) at around 1:45 p.m. The facility was evacuated by 3 p.m.
In a statement to ABC 10News early Monday evening, a San Diego County official said it was determined “there were no safety concerns” and “operations have resumed.”
No further details on the suitcase were released.
Officials are reminding county voters that in addition to the Registrar of Voters location in Kearny Mesa, there are 221 vote centers where they can cast a ballot or drop off a completed mail ballot.
Tuesday is the last day to vote, with vote centers and drop boxes open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
