CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A woman was struck by a van and killed on a Chula Vista street Sunday night.

The collision was reported at around 6:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Anita Street, according to Chula Vista police.

Police said a Chevrolet 3500 van was going eastbound on Anita Street when “the pedestrian crossed from the north curb line of Anita Street onto the south curb line. As the pedestrian entered the east bound lane, she was struck by the van.”

Emergency crews treated the 69-year-old victim at the scene and then transported her to UC San Diego Medical Center.

Police said the woman, whose name was not released, died from her injuries.

The van’s driver remained at the scene following the crash, and police said drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision.

The incident is being investigated by CVPD’s Traffic Division.

Anyone with information on the collision is urged to call 619-691-5151.
