CHULA VISTA (KGTV) — After seven long years, HarborFest, a longtime Chula Vista tradition, is back at the city's waterfront this Saturday.

HarborFest will return to the Chula Vista Bayfront on Saturday for the first time since 2019, bringing live music, food, water activities and family entertainment to the waterfront.

The festival was put on hold for seven years while a massive redevelopment project has been underway to transform the Chula Vista Bayfront.

“This is part of our history,” Chula Vista Mayor John McCann said.

Visitors returning to HarborFest will also notice a very different backdrop. The Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center is now part of the bayfront landscape, along with other ongoing improvements tied to the Port of San Diego's Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan.

The Port said visitors should also expect some construction activity around Harbor Park.

Lesley Nishihira, vice president of the Port of San Diego, said the redevelopment was shaped by community input with the goal of increasing public access to the waterfront.

“To see events like this come back is proof that that transformation is paying off,” Nishihira said.

The Port of San Diego will also be the title sponsor for Harborfest, having contributed $60-thousand dollars to help make Saturday's event possible.

What to know before you go

HarborFest is free and runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Organizers say four parking lots will offer free parking, with shuttle services available to take visitors to the festival.

Once inside, visitors can expect live bands, food trucks and vendors, free water activities like kayaking and paddle boarding, and even an option to take a $5 seal tour.

This year's entertainment will include headliners Liquid Blue and Santana Pa Ti, taking their respective stages at 4:30 p.m.

HarborFest will also have Lucha Libre Fighters starting at 11 a.m.
