SDPD investigates a homicide in Oak Park

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man and woman were found dead Saturday morning in what police believe was a domestic violence shooting in the Oak Park neighborhood, according to San Diego Police Department.

San Diego police responded to a report of gunfire around 9:47 a.m. at 5516 Timothy Drive. Officers arrived to find a woman in her 50s with a gunshot wound to her upper torso. While officers rendered aid, another team discovered a man, also in his 50s, dead in a separate room from an apparent gunshot wound to the head, police said.

Paramedics with San Diego Fire-Rescue continued life-saving efforts on the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. The names of the victims have not yet been released.

Homicide detectives are investigating the case and believe the shooting was a domestic violence incident that ended in a murder-suicide. San Diego Police Department said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
