SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Scripps Health has created a new way to celebrate people who donate a kidney.
Hundreds of hospital staff lined the hallways to cheer for and high-five a donor as they’re wheeled into surgery.
Hayley Gibbons got to experience the Hero Walk. "I don't think I could've gotten into the operating room on a bigger high. There's no way you could've doubted that you wanted to save someone after going down that hall,” Gibbons said.
Gibbons underwent surgery and is doing well. She says she’s excited to give someone a second chance at life even if she never gets to meet that person.
