SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person was seriously injured Thursday after being shot in a Clairemont neighborhood, prompting a heavy response of San Diego Police and SWAT officers.

The victim showed up at the William Taft Post Office just after 2 p.m., according to authorities. Paramedics took the victim to Scripps Memorial Hospital for treatment.

SDPD and SWAT officers swarmed the area around 4300 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. after witnesses reported seeing a man with a gun in the area, possibly fleeing into an apartment complex off Cole St.

Officers closed the road and evacuated neighbors from a nearby church preschool while combing the area.

One person was taken into custody and was found to have a firearm in their possession. No details on the arrest were immediately released.

Sky10 was live over the scene on Thursday, where a massive police presence could be seen.
