SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego police sergeant was arrested on domestic violence-related charges, SDPD officials announced Monday.

Officials said Sgt. Don Williams was arrested by Carlsbad police after responding to a reported domestic violence incident at his home on Dec. 22.

Williams was off duty and inside the home at the time of the reported incident.
He was booked into Vista Jail following his arrest.

Williams, who has been on the SDPD force for more than 22 years, was assigned to the department’s Mid-City Division.

SDPD officials said the department “does not tolerate this type of criminal conduct and Chief David Nisleit has removed Sergeant Williams’ police officer powers and placed him on unpaid leave.”

Carlsbad police are investigating the matter.
