SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police have arrested a man suspected of murder in a decades-old cold case.

According to the department, Leovardo Salceda, 51, was arrested on February 10 for the 1988 shooting death of 37-year-old Oliver Harrison.

Police say Harrison was riding his bicycle on the 600 block of 61st Street when he was struck by a stray bullet fired during a fight between two men down the street. He died a short time later.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene and a person of interest was identified.

“Unfortunately, the witnesses to the case were uncooperative and refused to provide information to the police,” the department said.

Detectives and the San Diego District Attorney’s Office Cold Case team continued working on the investigation until enough information was developed to arrest Salceda.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
