SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Three rail cars carrying automobiles derailed on Harbor Drive Saturday, according to the BNSF Railway.
The derailment happened around 4 p.m. Cars are currently leaning against a bridge pillar on Harbor Drive.
There were no injuries and no hazardous materials involved.
In a recent X post, Mayor Todd Gloria is advising motorists to avoid the area and expect traffic delays.
I’m aware of the freight train derailment near Harbor Drive and am receiving updates from City staff and emergency personnel.

Thankfully, there were no reported injuries and no hazardous materials involved. Grateful for the work of the first responders and City crews on scene.
Road closures remain in place along Harbor Drive by Park Boulevard and Cesar Chavez Parkway, according to the Harbor Police Department.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
