Power outage leaves thousands without power in the Central San Diego area

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Nearly 6,000 SDG&E customers were left without power Thursday in the Clairemont, Linda Vista, and Mission Valley area.

The outage was reported just before 1 p.m., affecting 5,925 customers in the communities of Clairemont, Linda Vista, Kearny Mesa, Mission Valley, and Tierrasanta, according to SDG&E spokesman Wes Jones.

Within about five minutes, 3,000 customers had their power restored and another 2,800 customers saw power back on at about 1:30 p.m. As of 2 p.m., about 60 customers were still without power.

Crews were out assessing the damage and cause, according to Jones. Power was estimated to be restored by 3:30 p.m.
