SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Three homes were evacuated Thursday near San Diego State University after a contractor hit a gas line, causing a break.

SDG&E received the call about a broken gas line just after 11:30 a.m. at 6545 Montezuma Rd. A third party contractor was working in the area and hit the service line, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue spokeswoman Monica Muñoz.

Gas was shut off to the line just before 1 p.m. No injuries have been reported. It wasn't clear when the line would be repaired.
