SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are investigating the death of a New Zealand man who was found in Mission Beach on New Year's Day, after an altercation the night before.
Police say just before 11 a.m. on Jan. 1, officers were called to a possible overdose at Mission Blvd. and Santa Barbara Pl. in Mission Beach. Officer arrived to find 34-year-old Hadleigh Keane, of New Zealand, in medical distress. He was taken to a nearby hospital and underwent emergency surgery.
Because of Keane's injuries, homicide detectives responded to investigate. Keane died as a result of his injuries on Jan. 8.
Detectives learned that Keane was involved in an altercation with two men the night before he was found. That night, he was thrown out of a party where he allegedly sexually battered several women, police said. He was visiting San Diego for work.
The two men were last seen on foot moving toward the boardwalk.
