Report: Preuss School among top high schools in California

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Some of San Diego’s high schools are among the best in California, according to a new report by U.S. News and World Report.

Ranking highest on the list was Preuss School UCSD, coming in at number seven on the list.

The Preuss School is located on the campus of UCSD and aims at preparing low-income students for college.

Nationally, the school is ranked 58^th.

Several other San Diego schools fell in the top 100 on the list.

Mt. Everest Academy ranked 42^nd on the list of best California high schools. According to the report, participation in advanced placement programs is 56 percent.

Also ranked in the top 100 is the San Diego High School of International Studies, placing 82^nd on the list.

Schools are ranked based on performance on state-required tests, graduation and how well they prepare students for college.
