SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 61-year-old man was killed when he was struck by a car while pushing a shopping cart on a street in San Diego's El Cerrito neighborhood, police said Friday.
The fatal collision occurred at 8:43 p.m. Thursday in the 6000 block of El Cajon Boulevard, according to San Diego Police Department.
The pedestrian was walking westbound in the street's second lane, pushing a shopping cart, when he was struck by a westbound 2018 Honda Civic driven by a 28-year-old man.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, police reported. His name has not been released pending family notification.
Investigators determined that driving under the influence was not a factor in the crash.
