VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating threatening messages found written inside restrooms at several high schools in Vista Thursday.

According to the department, the first message was discovered around 8 a.m. Thursday inside the men’s restroom at Vista High School.

“The message was vague but threatening in nature,” the department said.

A second, similar message was discovered in the men’s room at Rancho Buena Vista High School.

After being notified by personnel at the schools, Vista Patrol Station School Resource Officer and detectives responded to investigate.

As of Thursday night, no evidence was found that suggests the threats are credible or related, investigators say.

As a precaution, there will be an increased law enforcement presence at the school Friday.

Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity is asked to call the Sheriff’s Communication Center at 858-565-5200.
