OCEANSIDE (KGTV) — A vegetation fire in Oceanside led to evacuation warnings Saturday evening, according to Watch Duty.
At around 5:35 p.m., Oceanside fire crews responded to reports of a vegetation fire that started near the bottom of North Loretta Street in the Eastside Capistrano neighborhood.
According to the Oceanside Fire Department, the fire spread rapidly uphill, threatening homes on San Juan Place and Santa Anita Street. Out of an abundance of caution, the Oceanside Police Department issued evacuation warnings for affected areas.
Fire crews stopped the fire's forward progress within 45 minutes and prevented the spread into residential areas. The fire burned around 2.5 acres.
There are no reports of injuries or damage to structures.
Crews will remain on scene for mop-up operations
Two juvenile suspects were identified by the Oceanside Police Department during their investigation into the fire .
They were questioned and eventually released to their parents.
The incident remains under investigation.
