The event, called "We Pray San Diego" will bring 4,900 people together as well as 132 pastors and several county leaders. The event takes place from 9 a.m. through 10 a.m.

"Eight of the 18 local mayors of San Diego, two County Supervisors and over 132 local pastors will be standing together on the streets of our city’s borders, praying and being present in a moment to cry out to God for the changes needed to move America’s Finest City from crisis to thriving in unity, growth and healing," event organizers said.

County Suervisors include Jim Desmond and Diane Jacob, as well as Mayors Mark Arapostathis of La Mesa, Coronado Mayor Richard Bailey, Carlsbad's Matt Hall, San Marcos Mayor Rebecca Jones, Escondido Mayor Paul McNamara, Racquel Vasquez of Lemon Grove, Steve Vaus of Poway, and El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells.

“We are all so fortunate to live in a county like San Diego. Let’s rise up and pray so that it can continue to be one of the greatest counties in America," Jacobs said.

“We must use the power of prayer to achieve the true promises of our country. On June 20, let’s come together and pray for God to heal this land, for unity among all people, for justice in our community and wisdom for our elected representatives,” Vaus added.

Organizers of the event are urging participants to wear face masks and stay six feet apart. People can also participate from their homes.
