Motorcyclist killed in head-on collision with pickup truck in Valley Center

VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (KGTV) – A motorcyclist died Sunday after colliding with a pickup truck on a Valley Center roadway.

California Highway Patrol officials said the crash happened at around 4:25 p.m. on Valley Center Road, near Round Tree Road.

According to the CHP, a 42-year-old man riding a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250 motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Valley Center Road when he crossed over double yellow lines and into the westbound lane.

The motorcyclist collided head-on with a 2016 GMC Sierra pickup truck that was hauling a trailer, and the impact caused the rider to be ejected from his motorcycle.

CHP officials said the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck’s driver was not injured in the collision.

The crash is under investigation.
