ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) – Police arrested a man suspected in a shooting in Escondido that sent one person to the hospital Monday night.

The shooting was reported just before 8 p.m. in an area near Mission Avenue and Rose Street, according to Escondido police.

Police said responding officers arrived to find a man with gunshot wounds to his arm and leg near a vehicle collision. He was taken to Palomar Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

It is unclear if the shooting and crash involving two cars -- one of them reportedly stolen -- are linked.

A man suspected in the shooting was spotted in the 1500 block of Washington Avenue and was taken into custody.

Police told 10News the suspected shooter has gang ties, but it has not been determined if the shooting was gang-related.

Additionally, a woman who was reportedly pistol-whipped during the incident has not been located by police.
