SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for several suspects after a man was shot in National City early Sunday morning.
According to police, the shooting happened around 5 a.m. near the intersection of Stockman Street and Alston Avenue.
"The victim had just returned from Mexico and saw two guys apparently either tampering with or trying to take something out of his car,'' National City Police Officer Damian Ballardo said.
Police say one or both of the men shot the victim when he attempted to confront them.
Ballardo said the victim was rushed to the hospital with two gunshot wounds, one to the chest and another to his arm.
As of Sunday afternoon, the victim was recovering from surgery and is expected to be okay.
