IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) -- Border Patrol aided in the rescue of a man who became stuck on the border wall in Imperial Beach Tuesday night.
According to the agency, agents patrolling the area spotted a man hanging from the wall where it stretches out into the ocean around 8:15 p.m.
The man, identified only as a 25-year-old Mexican national, tried to scale down into the US and was hanging over the waterline.
Authorities in Mexico were able to free the man from the wall.
Border Patrol agents then took the man to safety. He was taken to the hospital with hypothermia and knee pain, the agency said.
“Let this serve as a reminder,” Chief Patrol Agent Aaron Heitke said. “A smuggler’s sole motive is profit. When the going gets tough, they will leave you behind to fend for yourself.”
