SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while leaving a flower shop in Rolando.

The 68-year-old man was walking northbound in an intersection in the 7000 block of El Cajon Blvd. at about 12:30 p.m. when he was hit be a Honda Fit traveling eastbound, San Diego Police said. The man was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for life-threatening injuries.

The driver remained at the scene. Police do not suspect alcohol to be a factor.

Witnesses at the scene told 10News the man had just purchased flowers from someone nearby before being hit.

SDPD's traffic division was investigating the incident.
