SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police arrested a man they say tried to carjack the driver of an Amazon truck in the Midway District Saturday evening.
According to police, the driver was stopped at a red light on Sports Arena Boulevard and Hancock Street around 6:23 p.m. when a man walked up to the passenger side of the truck, pointed a gun at the driver, and attempted to open the door. The driver then left the scene.
Police say the suspect then walked to the Heritage Inn, where people called police to report a man with a gun.
Officers arrived and set up a perimeter, eventually taking the man, later identified as Miguel Gonzales, 46, into custody. “A gun was found and upon further inspection it was not real,’ police said.
