SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A group of local teens is using their time off from school to help feed local health care workers, while also helping local businesses.

Andrew Sun and Isabella Liu are both high school students. Both are part of an organization called the Youth Care Club, an affiliation of the American Chinese Cultural and Education Foundation.

While home from school because of the coronavirus, Sun had an idea to collect monetary donations from the community and use that money to help local health care workers.

The group is also helping local restaurants by ordering from places that might be struggling due to a loss in business because of the stay at home order. The club calls the mission Meals for Health Heroes.

As of Monday, the group has raised over $2,000 and have donated food to UCSD Health La Jolla and Scripps Mercy Chula Vista.

The group has another donation scheduled for this Wednesday.
