CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) -- A homeless man was arrested Wednesday after reportedly sexually assaulting a 70-year-old woman inside a Carlsbad assisted living facility.
According to the city, Austin Miller, 25, was arrested for elder abuse, burglary, attempted rape, sexual battery and false imprisonment just after 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Miller is accused of entering an assisted living facility on the 1000 block of Laguna Drive around 6:24 a.m. Tuesday.
According to staff at the facility, the suspect walked into the building before entering the room of a 70-year-old woman.
“Once inside the room, the suspect sexually assaulted the victim,” the city told 10News.
Miller fled the scene after being confronted by a staff member. He was later located on the 900 block of Carlsbad Village Drive and taken into custody.
