LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A family’s Thanksgiving plans were ruined by a fire that torched their Lakeside home, but no one was injured in the incident.
The fire erupted at around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 10800 block of Vista Camino, according to fire officials.
Some family members told 10News they had a fire going in an outdoor fireplace earlier in the evening, but they put the fire out before everyone went to sleep.
However, someone woke up and alerted everyone in the home to get out after flames began to spread.
Responding firefighters doused the fire, but the blaze caused major damage to the house and destroyed a vehicle parked in the driveway.
All family members were able to escape without injury. 10News learned the will be spending Thanksgiving with other family members in the area.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
