LAKESIDE, Calif (KGTV) - Numerous homes in a neighborhood near Lakeside were left without water service after a water main broke and caused a sinkhole to form in the street.
Padre Dam Municipal Water District officials said a 16-inch water main broke for unknown reasons just before 7 p.m. on Cordial Road, near Ridge Hill Road.
The ruptured main sent water and mud into the air and onto the roadway, causing a section of the street to cave in and form a sinkhole.
Due to the main break and subsequent repair effort, water service was turned off for a large number of customers in the immediate area.
10News learned service was restored for affected customers early Friday morning.
Repairs are expected to continue throughout Friday morning.
