LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) — La Mesa's Best Buy location will close just before spring, after the company says it failed to reach an agreement for a new lease with the store's current landlord.

A Best Buy spokesperson told 10News they didn't want to close the location, but decided to after they weren't able to agree on a new lease over a fair market rate. Their current lease is set to expire.

The store's 74 full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees are being given the option to transfer to one of the 12 other Best Buy locations in San Diego County.

The store, located at 8401 Fletcher Parkway, will close on March 13, 2019, according to a WARN notice obtained by 10News from the San Diego Workforce Partnership.

There are currently 26 full-time and 38 part-time employees whose jobs will end on March 13, the notice reads. Another 10 seasonal or temporary positions will end Friday. Position titles range from in-store consultants to inventory employees.
