IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) -- The San Diego County Sheriff's Department is investigating following a suspicious death in Imperial Beach Friday.
According to the department, Chula Vista Police officers were called to Scripps Mercy Hospital just before 1 a.m. following a report of a man with a gunshot wound.
Hospital staff tried saving the man, who later died from his injuries. According to authorities, the person who drove the man to the hospital left shortly after dropping him off.
Later in the afternoon, officers located what is believed to be the scene of the shooting on the 400 block of 7th Street in Imperial Beach.
No information was made available on any possible suspect and the details surrounding the shooting remain unclear.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department homicide unit has assumed the investigation.
