(KGTV) -- Downed power lines possibly caused several fires that shut down Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton Wednesday evening.
California Highway Patrol first reported the fires just after 7 p.m. on I-5 north near Cristianitos Road.
According to officials with Camp Pendleton, one of the fires sparked near I-5 and Basilone Road while the other started near Cristianitos Road.

Authorities quickly shut down northbound lanes of the 5, as well as several southbound lanes.
Officials say downed power lines could have caused the fires, but the exact cause will be determined once the fires are extinguished.
As of 7:55 p.m., both fires were less than an acre.
