VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a 43-year-old was hit and killed by a driver who fled the scene early Sunday morning.
According to the department, the crash happened at 12:22 a.m. near the intersection of Vista Village Drive and Wave Drive.
Deputies say a driver hit the 43-year-old man before leaving the scene of the crash. The victim died at the scene.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until their family is notified and deputies are still searching for the driver.
