SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A man was arrested following a hit-and-run collision in Ocean Beach that left a woman dead on Tuesday.
San Diego Police said the crash happened near the library in the 4800 block of Santa Monica Avenue just before 4:45 p.m.
According to police, a 2002 Toyota Tundra pickup truck was parked facing the north curbline of Santa Monica Avenue when the driver “accelerated forward while attempting to leave.”
The truck hit a 59-year-old woman who was sitting on the north sidewalk of Santa Monica Avenue, according to police. The driver ditched the truck and left the scene on foot, police stated.
The victim was taken to the hospital but died after arrival, police confirmed.
Police said the driver, who was not identified, later returned to the scene and was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
