1 dead, 3 injured in pair of crashes on Interstate 15

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person was killed and three other people were injured Wednesday after a two crashes on Interstate 15 in the Grantville area.

CHP units were called to a multi-vehicle crash on northbound I-15 north of Friars Road just before 10 p.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, officers learned the crash was actually two separate crashes involving a Chevrolet Avalanche, a Mercedes sedan, and a Honda Accord sedan.

CHP said it appeared the Chevrolet rolled over during the crash, but it was not clear what vehicles were involved in the first crash or how either crash occurred.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 30-year-old woman from Corona, died at the scene. A 52-year-old man who was a passenger in the vehicle sustained major injuries and was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 28-year-old man from San Diego, sustained moderate injuries and was also taken to Sharp Memorial.

The 22-year-old San Diego man behind the wheel of the Honda was not injured. A 27-year-old Chula Vista woman also in the Honda received minor injuries.

Drugs or alcohol is not suspected in the crash, according to CHP.
