Legoland to announce plans for new 4-D ride

CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) - Legoland California executives will announce today the company's largest-ever ride expenditure, which is scheduled to open summer 2018.

Legoland says the ride will combine ``3D computer animation with 4D real-world effects.''

Similar events have been held to announce the construction of hotels, a waterpark and aquarium.

Park executives will also update the progress on construction of the Legoland Castle Hotel, which began in January and it is also scheduled to open next year.

The hotel will offer rooms with themes of knights, princesses, dragons and wizards; a pool area with fountains, slides and play features; and a castle themed restaurant.

Legoland California is owned by Merlin Entertainment of London and opened in 1999. The other similar theme park is near Orlando.
