FALLBROOK, Calif. - An autopsy determined Friday that the death of an unidentified man whose partially decomposed body was found in a remote, rural neighborhood near Fallbrook was a homicide by bludgeoning, officials said.

The corpse was discovered early Thursday evening off the 42400 block of Via del Gavilan, north of Cinco Arroyos, sheriff's Lt. Kenneth Nelson said.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office concluded that the man, a Latino who appeared to have been in his mid-50s, died of blunt-force injuries to his upper body inflicted by another person.
