SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) - Firefighters were battling a three-acre brush fire near Interstate 15 in North County Thursday afternoon.
The Gopher Fire was reported on northbound I-15 just after 2:30 p.m. on the right shoulder of the freeway, near Deer Springs Road. The fire was reported 100 percent contained just before 7:30 p.m.
The blaze shut down Champagne Boulevard, which runs parallel to I-15, and is expected to remain closed into the evening hours. The freeway remained open.

Cal Fire Chief Isaac Sanchez said it's too early to determine the cause of the fire.
