SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) - A 3-month-old golden retriever puppy with a price tag of $3,700 was stolen from a pet shop Thursday night in Santee.

That’s according to Sharon Franco, the owner of Pups and Pets, who has surveillance video of an unidentified man grabbing the dog while in a play-pen and running out the front door.

The man had been in the store earlier but came back a second time and asked to play with the golden retriever puppy, said Franco.

He played with it for about 5 minutes before he picked it up and ran out of the store.

Two employees tried to run after him but said a car was waiting outside. They described it as an older model Audi with Florida plates.

Anyone with information is urged to call the San Diego Sheriff’s Department.
