SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man traveling on Interstate 805 Saturday had a scary run-in with a flying piece of plywood.

The driver was traveling on southbound I-805 Saturday just before 12:30 p.m. when the piece of wood flew off the back of a commercial truck and bounced off the driver's windshield.

The driver said he took evasive actions to get to the shoulder of the freeway quickly and safely while shattered glass flew through the car's cabin. His mother was sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle, right behind where the wood made contact. She was not injured.

Speaking with 10News' Mike Gold, the man trembled thinking of what could've happened if the wood fully broke through his car's windshield.
