Driver may be targeting girls headed to school

Posted

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - A short walk to school turned into a heart-pounding run for a 6th grader in Escondido.

On Wednesday morning, Janice Garibay says her daughter, 11-year-old Emily, was walking to Mission Middle School in Escondido when Emily says a man in a red BMW pulled alongside the sidewalk and asked for directions to the 78.

Emily says he then asked her to get in the car to show him, offering to drop her off at school later. She ran off and called for help.

After digging in our archives, we found a similar, unsolved case involving a man in a red car trying to lure girls in that area.
