LA JOLLA, Calif. (KGTV) - One man is behind bars after police say he struck a bicyclist and fled, only to get into another collision.

San Diego Police said a 44-year-old man riding his bike in the 6500 block of La Jolla Colony Drive was seriously injured Thursday after he was hit from behind by a vehicle just before 6:30 a.m.

Police said the driver, identified as 29-year-old Heejoon Lee, fled the scene, leaving the victim lying in the street. Less than a mile away, Lee was involved in another collision in the 7600 block of Palmilla Drive.

He was arrested and taken into custody after the second collision.

Lee is being charged with driving under the influence and hit-and-run.

Police are still investigating the collision and ask anyone with information to call San Diego Police at 619-531-2000, or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
