LA MESA -- A tractor-trailer crashed and spilled fuel onto a freeway transition ramp in La Mesa this morning, prompting authorities to partially close the connector and summon hazardous material response personnel.
The big rig struck a guardrail alongside the transition from westbound Interstate 8 to southbound state Route 125 and began leaking diesel fuel around 7:20 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. No injuries were reported.
The wrecked truck was blocking lanes and the CHP subsequently closed two of the three connector lanes, authorities said.
The fuel spill was contained shortly after 8 a.m., but it was unclear when the closure would be lifted.
