SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — When the beaches of Coronado were finally ordered closed amid the COVID-19 crisis, there was some push back by residents.
The acrimony produced by the controversy didn't sit well with longtime Coronado resident Brad Willis. Willis felt the community needed a positive sign of hope and solidarity. He decided to launch a mask-making campaign.
The "CoroMask Campaign" started two weeks ago with a Facebook fundraiser.

It took off quickly, raising six thousand dollars in a matter of days. Willis says they had to close the fundraiser because they could only make a limited number. Tuesday, they held their last distribution drive and gave away the last masks.
"I'm just so proud of our volunteers," says Willis. "We've given out more than 1400 masks."
The "CoroMasks" have become a collector's item, and a symbol.
"It reminds us that we are in this together and that here we are #nadostrong," adds Willis.
