SAN DIEGO -- A cook at a Miramar Denny’s was stabbed early Tuesday as he slept in his car in the eatery's parking lot.
A motive for the attack outside a Denny's on Miramar Road near Commerce Avenue around 4:45 a.m. was not immediately clear, but a suspect -- identified as 28-year-old Andres Acabal -- was later arrested in City Heights, San Diego police said.
Police noted that Acabal and the victim, 49-year-old Gilberto Villa, knew each other.
Acabal was charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, according to police.
Villa was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and is in stable condition following surgery.
