San Diego sued for damages from North Park water main break

NORTH PARK, Calif. (KGTV) - Residents in North Park are suing the city of San Diego over damage to their property due to a water main break in January.

Two separate lawsuits are being filed by residents on Arizona Street.

Paula Schnell said she had submitted a claim to the city for around $18,000, the cost needed to hire a contractor to repair her basement.

She said the city pressured her to take a "lowball" settlement, but she refused knowing it would not be enough to fix the damage.

The city's risk management department issued this statement,

“The City does not comment on claims. As part of the claims process, all claims filed against the City are assigned to a Claims Representative that works closely with the claimant in an effort to resolve disputes where the City is liable.”
